Scar Reduction

Scar Reduction Brisbane

Be it from severe acne, an accident, or a medical procedure, scarring leaves us with seemingly permanent reminders of what may not be an overly pleasant memory. What many people don’t realise though is it is in fact possible to reduce the appearance of scarring on your skin by up to 80% without the need to undergo surgery. At Herstellen Clinic we offer a range of targeted and effective treatments which can help to fade the scar and its associated memories for you.

Treating acne scarring

Acne scarring can vary both in type and severity. Some mild acne scars are only very shallow and almost look like they are just variations in the colour of your skin, while others can be quite severe, appearing as pitting on your skin, or even deep holes known as ice pick scars. The treatment best suited to your acne scarring will depend on the type of scar. When you visit Herstellen Clinic, one of our highly trained team will conduct an in-depth assessment of your acne scarring and work with you to create a plan to help address your unique needs. Some of the treatments we may recommend for your scarring, depending on the circumstances, include Fraxel laser, Dermapen micro needling and chemical peels.

Treating other body and facial scars

Outside of acne scarring, there is a wide variety of other scarring which you may be experiencing on your face and other parts of your body too. Again, the treatment we recommend will be dependent on many factors, and may include Fraxel laser or Dermapen micro needling.

Can you treat keloid scars?

Keloid scars often respond well to treatment with Fraxel laser. If you would like to have your keloid scars reviewed by our team, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Fraxel laser for scarring

Fraxel laser works by deeply penetrating the skin and stimulating the production of collagen; this stimulates your body to grow new cells which then help to improve the appearance of the scarring. As it is able to treat a range of different scarring types, Fraxel laser is suitable for use on scars all over the body. Read more about Fraxel laser.

Dermapen micro needling for scarring

Dermapen is a device to vertically pierce the skin, again stimulating your body’s natural collagen production to help induce new cell growth. The micro-injuries to the skin then encourage your body to produce these new cells and repair the “damaged” skin. As the ‘injuries’ to your skin are microscopic, they aren’t visible externally, and promote scar-less healing.

Will my scar be completely gone?

Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely that you scar would be entirely gone after treatment, however its appearance should improve significantly. Many people experience between a 30 and 80% improvement.
